AIE started in January 2026 after a long period of deliberation about the need for an alternative music channel aimed at South Asian music. South Asian music is already well established in all its glorious genres and wonderful tunes, melodies, and beats.
At the same time, we noted that particularly in South Asia, the development of fusion with other parts of the world in terms of musical styles was perhaps slower in developing because of the very strong influence of the South Asian styles. Therefore, AIE was designed mainly for experimental music—how South Asian music sounds after fusion with genres from all over the world.
Change is the essence of permanence, and new sounds quite often are the best way to preserve old sounds.
